The “Chase is a race” files

In 2016 I decided to make a series about different car cultures. As the idea developed I found myself roaming the street of Los Angeles deep into the night and for 3 years I was deeply enthralled with the illegal street racing community.

While the over project never amounted to a full documentary it did help me to land an editing gig at Petrolicious that developed into becoming their in house editor and main filmmaker. The documentary on street racing was going to be called Chase is a Race.

Chase is a race is one of the rules of street racing. Street racing is a challenge between two cars from dead stop to the finish line over 1/4 of a mile. It is also referred as 1320 which is the number of feet in a quarter of a mile. Drag race is the legal NHRA sanctioned equivalent. These are segments I decided to share with the public once it became evident this project was never going to be completed.
